This book/CD-ROM package provides a framework based on Edward Deming's quality principles, for use in software testing process within both structured and unstructured environments. Early chapters review modern quality assurance principles and best practices, and introduce Deming's concept of quality through a continuous improvement process. Sections 2 and 3 review and contrast the waterfall and spiral software testing methodologies, and also analyzes the psychology of software testing. Section 4 describes basic test management processes and organizational approaches, and Section 5 looks at emerging specialized areas in testing, such as service oriented architecture (SOA) testing, and testing in an Agile development environment. Section 6 supplies a list of commercial and open-source free software tools and guidelines for choosing them. Almost 200 pages of appendices provide methodologies, plan specifications, forms, test templates, checklists, and software testing techniques. A glossary is also included.
