The Seneca Nation has been a prime focus of research for Abler (anthropology, U. of Waterloo-Canada) throughout his academic career, and here he presents a biography of the a Chief Warrior of the Seneca population residing on the Allegheny River. Cornplanter (1732-1836) had a Seneca mother, but his father was a white fur trader from Albany, so he was also called John O'Bail.
