Macrina (330-380) was the eldest sister of Gregory of Nyssa and Basil the Great, all three of whom were saints, as was their grandmother Macrina the Elder. Silvas (U. of New England, Australia) has collected all the sources of her life and translated them from Greek to English. Her introduction and notes provide additional information about her life and family, the contemporary history of Christianity, and the emergence of Christian monasticism in Asia Minor.
