Anthropologists and other social scientists, historians, and law scholars, compare the situations and circumstances of the Sámi people of Europe's far north and the indigenous peoples of Australia in terms of their relations with the dominant industrial society. Their topics include the development of Sámi rights in Norway 1980-2007, indigenous representative bodies in northern Europe and Australia, internal colonialism in Australia, some comparative perspectives on Sámi lands and indigenous Australian lands, and indigenous uses of cultural heritage legislation in Australia and Norway.
