The 13 papers presented here developed out of the Pseudepigrapha and Christian Origins Seminar of the Studiorum Novi Testimenti Societas, chaired from 2000 to 2006 by Oegema (biblical studies, McGill U., Canada) and Charlesworth (New Testament language and literature, Princeton Theological Seminary). The seminar examined the relationship between the Pseudepigrapha (in general, pseudepigrapha are falsely attributed works, although not all of the Biblical Pseudepigrapha technically fit that definiton) of the Old Testament, those found at Qumran, and those of the New Testament and those used in the early church and the New Testament. Among the topics addressed by the included papers are the provenance of the Old Testament Pseudepigrapha, Jewish martyrology and the death of Jesus, the apocalyptic worldview and exorcistic ministry of Jesus, Adam and Eve in Romans 1:18-25 and the Greek Life of Adam and Eve, the Pseudepigrapha and the problem of background "parallels" in the study of the Acts of the Apostles, the Parables of Enoch and the Revelation of John, and the reception of the Book of Daniel and Danielic literature in the early church.
