Presents selected themes related to indigenous Australians against a background of traditional, colonial, and contemporary experiences. Particular facets of the lives of Aboriginal Australians are revealed through examination of their struggle to maintain a strong identity and heritage while actively participating in Australian society. Chapters in the first edition published in 1994 were written to accompany the Open Learning Aboriginal Studies course.
