This work provides readers with a basic understanding of the legal definitions and legal doctrines, malpractice and risk management information, ethics, and patients' rights issues relevant to the field of diagnostic imaging and the role of the imaging professional. Case vignettes assist readers in applying legal principles to real work situations. The vignettes are designed to stimulate discussion, to raise other issues, and to look at various faces of the questions presented, but not necessarily to provide the "right answers." The book was formerly titled Medicolegal Issues for Radiographers. This edition is expanded to cover issues faced by all types of diagnostic imaging professionals. It contains new and expanded material on evidence, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, deontology, confidentiality, HIPPA, euthanasia, and teleradiology.
