In this volume, Malinowski, a storyteller and founder of the Storytelling Museum, and Pellowski, a storyteller, librarian, and author of story anthologies, collect about 50 Polish folktales in English translation. They offer all types of tales: tales of local legends, animals, magic, supernatural creatures, and religion, as well as chain chants and cumulative stories, humorous tales, and why tales. They emphasize those found in the earliest chronicles, including sources Gallus Anonymous, Kadlubek, Baszko, and Dlugosz, along with those from the nineteenth and twentieth century.
