Initially developed by Marsha M. Linehan to treat chronically suicidal individuals with borderline personality disorder, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) has since been adapted to diverse settings and populations. This book, edited by close collaborators of Linehan, describes current advances in DBT and presents applications for a range of complex problems. After a concise overview of DBT, chapters detail how it is being used in outpatient, inpatient, forensic, and community contexts with adults, adolescents, couples, and families. Applications and exemplary programs are described for treating depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, psychosis, and suicidal and assaultive behaviors. Particular attention is given to patients with multiple, co-occurring disorders. Reproducible worksheets and forms are included.
