Pollack (history and Jewish studies, U. of North Texas) introduces the "old-new antisemitism" that now permeates campuses as anti-Zionism. Contributors examine the factors underlying this modern guise of antisemitism on US and UK campuses including administrators' double standard of sensitivity to racist, sexist, and homophobic but not antisemitic activity at their schools; New Left activists' pro-Palestinian position; fear of offending Muslim students; and youth culture messages, e.g., on Facebook, on Holocaust denial and Israel as an apartheid nation. Other authors look to the past when quotas on Jewish students and faculty and exclusionary clauses by donors were prevalent. Current efforts to combat campus antisemitism are also discussed.
