Written in accessible terms, this guide for early childhood care providers and parents shows how to recognize and deal with common symptoms and signs of illness in children. A brief introductory chapter explains general information about germs. Next, chapters on individual symptoms, such as sore throat, inflamed eyes, and rashes, contain checklists of signs, boxes on recognizing an emergency, patterns of specific illnesses and complications, and simple explanations of the role of germs and/or viruses. Practical advice is given for disinfecting the environment, and how long the sick child should be kept away from other children.
