The Explorers Club was founded in New York City in 1904 for the purpose of encouraging scientific exploration around the world. Edited by Russell (freelance editor and writer at large for Texas Monthly), this is the fifth volume collecting Explorers Club stories, maintaining a tradition begun with 1931's Told at The Explorers Club. It contains 41 first-hand narratives of scientific adventures, including a physician fighting to save lives during a snowstorm on Mt. Everest, tagging condors in Peru, rare bird searches in Arkansas, sub-marine shipwreck explorations, expeditions in Antarctica, and a mission on the Soviet space station Mir.
