The author marshals international human rights law in support of her opposition to abortion. She presents material from the major human rights instruments, legislative histories, contemporary commentaries, and recent scholarship, as well as from the General Comments and Concluding Observations and Recommendations of the various treaty monitoring bodies in order "to establish once and for all that the human rights of the unborn child were recognized right from the beginning in the foundation documents of modern international human rights law." She also critiques what she sees as reinterpretations of human rights law that find it does not address the rights of the unborn child or, worse, find within these human rights instruments a right to abortion.
