This text contains a selection of papers that were presented at an international symposium in Verona, Italy in December 2007, focusing on recent research on platinum coordination compounds in cancer chemotherapy. An opening overview is followed by 41 contributions by 147 international researchers organized into four sections covering novel platinum analogues, original formulations and other heavy metals; cellular transport and intracellular trafficking of platinum compounds; DNA damage and signal transduction--recognition/repair and cell- response; and clinical applications.
