A specialist in gender, Ahmad (anthropology, Lahore U. of Management Sciences, Pakistan) describes the Islamic school for women called al-Huda, which means guidance, and by extension, a place of guidance. Her emphasis is on the impact it is having on how educated middle-class and upper-class women are changing their ideology, behavior, and lifestyle to accord with religious discourse they internalize while at the school, and the enthusiasm with which they work toward spreading its ideology in mainstream society.
