Macey (Yale Law School, New Jersey) has compiled a selection of 33 articles he believes are particularly noteworthy and influential. An introduction provides a brief overview of the field and the articles. Organized into topics, the articles discuss a Coasean perspective, corporate lawyers and other 'institutional features' of corporate law, insider trading, and politics. The articles were published mainly in the 1970s-1990s: R.H. Coase's 1937 "The nature of the firm" is an important exception. First published in such journals as the Stanford law review, U. of Toronto law journal, and the Journal of financial economics, the articles are reproduced in facsimile of the original.
