This book is the product of a four year demonstration project undertaken by the authors whose goal was to outline policies and test effective practices for the successful inclusion of cognitively disabled students into mainstream classrooms. As the title suggests, the goal was not to simply come up with a model to get those students into general classrooms, but to provide methodologies and guidelines for offering them the full participation and benefits other students experience. The book, including the accompanying CD-ROM of lesson plans, forms and templates, provides specific details and approaches for administrators willing to commit to the rigor required to produce the desired outcomes.
