Springgay (Pennsylvania State U.) examines the relationship between art and artist by providing details of a recent study that required students to combine body movement and relation to the actual work. Using feminist theories of touch and embodiment, the author shows how the physical act of creating art is intertwined with the result, and how this knowledge can be used to promote understanding of self.
