Using the Recueil edition from 1866, Sweetenham (French studies, U. of Warwick, UK) presents the first English translation of Robert the Monk's Historia Iherosolimitana, a Latin prose account that describes the First Crusade. In the introduction, Sweetenham discusses the document's textual history, his authorship and relationship with other sources, and the document's relationship to the Gesta Francorum.
