<DIV>From the Mississippi bottomlands in the east to the hill country of the Ouachita and Ozark mountains in the west, Arkansas offers a wide range of excellent, four-season opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. <br><br>Out of over 250 designated trails in Arkansas, Arkansas natives Janie and Wyatt Jones compiled a sampling of nature walks, day-length hikes, and backpacking trails that would appeal to a wide cross-section of people. Hiking, to the authors, is not a competition with nature in which only the strong and well-conditioned may triumph, but a celebration of nature to be enjoyed by all, including children, senior citizens, and the disabled.
