A former law professor and frequent speaker for groups such as the League of the South and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Graham sets forth a legal historical argument why during the Nullification crisis and the Civil War (here called "the War Between the States) the Southern states were wholly in the right. Graham admits no subtlety of argument in his polemic, accusing the North of acting illegally, brutally, and immorally, contrasting with the rectitude of the Southern cause. He accepts the arguments of Jefferson Davis (who "died forgiven and beloved by his countrymen") and others that the war was solely based on these legal principles, while failing to address why the South refused to recognize these rights for abolitionist communities in the Southern states that attempted to secede from the Confederacy (not to mention the slaves' natural right to secede), and suggests that if we fail to heed his lessons we're doomed to being ruled by an "ULTIMATE UNIVERSAL CENTRALIZED GOVERNMENT" (emphasis in the original).
