Snyder (clinical psychology training, Texas A&M U.), Simpson (psychology, U. of Minnesota), and Hughes (educational psychology, Texas A&M U.) assemble 14 chapters for graduate students and practitioners written by contributors in psychology and related fields from the US and Israel, who presented papers at the Texas A&M U. Conference on Emotion Regulation in Couples and Families in February of 2004. The aim of the conference was to discuss how emotion regulation should be defined and measured, related theories, and cross-disciplinary ways of thinking. In this volume, discussions cover new models and theoretical approaches, emotional intelligence, attachment processes, the idea of happy victimization, the effects of parenting and family relationships, risk-taking behaviors, and clinical interventions, which involve chronic pain management, expressiveness and responsiveness in couples, emotion dysregulation, and understanding emotion in family routines.
