Giorgi (Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center, San Francisco; founder, Journal of Phenomenological Psychology) argues that Husserl's phenomenological philosophy/theory of science is preferable to empiricism as a theoretical grounding for qualitative research in humanistic psychology.
