Reeve (philosophy, U. of North Carolina-Chapel Hill) has striven to make his translation of the Classical classic as uninterpretative and close to the original as possible. One does, however make the conversation into direct speech rather than Socrates reporting on it later in the past tense. The translation is from the New Standard Greek Text, and is supported by a synopsis of each book, a glossary of terms, and a glossary and index of names as well as a select bibliography and general index.
