Aztalan, located on the Crawfish River 50 miles west of Milwaukee, is an archaeological site that was discovered in 1836 and believed to be a Mississippian civilization flourishing from 1050 to 1250 AD. The authors describe excavations, artifacts, and research done on the site, the culture, people, life, and customs of the site, its Mississippian origins, and the current Aztalan State Park.
