Eleftheriotis (film and television studies, U. of Glasgow, Scotland) and Needham (media and cultural studies, Nottingham Trent U., UK) present a collection of 23 articles by a number of key scholars in the field of Asian cinema. Eighteen of the essays were previously published in scholarly books and journals between 1977 and 2002; five commissioned for this text cover more recent histories and provide insights into contemporary developments in the field.
