This slightly oversize catalogue (9x12") documents the fifty superb examples of Japanese ceramics, ranging from the Jomon period to the present, that made up a special exhibition at the Honolulu Academy of Arts in 2005. Jointly sponsored by the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs, the exhibition includes significant works from Japanese museums. In addition to the catalogue entries for each piece, initial essays (presented both in English and Japanese) describe the history of ceramics and their production in Japan.
