Scholars of literature and philosophy, many of them associated with the Ayn Rand Institute and organizations promoting her philosophy, examine the novel she wrote in 1937 while taking a break from writing The Fountainhead. It was published in England in 1938 and in a revised version in the US in 1946. They trace her revisions as she tried to get it published in what they call America's Red Decade, and the response to it. Then they look at it as literature and as philosophy.
