Aimed at researchers and students of narrative inquiry in the social, behavioral and health sciences, this handbook outlines the historical development and philosophical underpinnings of narrative inquiry and describes different forms of narrative. Illustrating the range of narrative inquiry forms, the contributors describe the conceptualization of narrative inquiry in anthropology, sociology, psychology, philosophy, nursing and other disciplines. The articles offer both conceptual and practical discussions and pay particular attention to representational and ethical topics, as well as to some of the complexities of narrative inquiry with indigenous, cross-cultural and child participants.
