The latest edition includes a new foreword by Arnoldo de León (history, Angelo State U., Texas) discussing the contribution Weber's text made and continues to make to the field of Mexican American history, and a new afterword by Weber, looking back at the creation of the book and assessing its continuing scholarly relevance today.
