In his new introduction to this reprint of the 1970 Praeger Publishers edition, Berg (U. of Pennsylvania) explains that he is revisiting the scene of the "misdemeanor," i.e. the practice of inflating educational requirements for jobs despite employers' bottom line focus, because degree fixation, lack of vocational preparation, and under-employment continue.
