Markstrom (music, U. of Manitoba, Canada) examines the operas of composer Leonardo Vinci (d. 1730) and aspects of the early classical style in them. He presents a chronological survey of the operas, weaving in biographical and historical context and describing his controversial death. Collaborations with Metastasio are also discussed.
