Fifteen chapters from a variety of methodological viewpoints explore issues in participatory community research, from methodology and power sharing to ensuring that work is sensitive to cultural differences. The collection stems from a June 2002 conference held in Chicago. It provides examples of coordinated, collaborative, and longitudinal research and action projects that were based on participatory methods and practices, in which participants themselves (rather than academics alone) shape the research and service agenda.
