O'Neill (criminology, Durham U., UK) explores the interrelationships between asylum, migration, and processes of community formation, focusing on theories and methodologies for informing public policy. The work is informed theoretically by the critical social theory of the Frankfurt School and methodologically promotes participatory, (biographical) performative arts, and media analysis methodologies. It also examines the performative praxis of activities focusing on asylum, migration, and integration/belonging at local, regional, national, and international levels, including the work of the international network for human dignity and humiliation studies (HDHS).
