ArcObjects is the development platform for ArcGIS, a software package for managing geographical information systems (GIS), and ideally should be leaned before it. Acknowledging the world he actually lives in, Chang offers a tutorial and textbook for readers who in fact already use ArcGIS and have figured out that programming ArcObjects can reduce the amount of repetitive work, streamline the workflow, and even produce functionalities that are not easily available with ArcGIS toolbars and commands.
