Despite being a general and war hero during the Revolution, serving eight terms as governor of New York, and twice being vice president of the U.S., George Clinton is little remembered by anyone except historians. This short but engaging book introduces readers to a figure at least as interesting as many of his more famous contemporaries. The author focuses mainly on Clinton's military exploits, in which he helped secure western New York for the young United States during the Revolution, and on his political career, in which he championed the interests of New York's small farmers and merchants, and helped shape the modern commercial life of New York.
