Wonderfully clear and thorough in its presentation, this reference surveys the many freshwater fishes of British Columbia, with a drawing and distribution map included for each. The entry for each fish contains sections on its distinguishing characteristics, sexual dimorphism, distribution, reproduction, food habits, habitat, and conservation comments. Within these categories other issues are addressed as needed, and habitat is differentiated between adults, juveniles, and young-of-the-year. The studies on which the information is based for each entry, including the author's own observation, is noted. He also notes the dates of study, anomalies, and areas where additional study is needed.
