Tengelyi (philosophy, Bergische Universität Wuppertal, Germany) outlines a phenomenological approach to questions of meaning, sense, temporality, unity of life, narrative history, self-identity, inter-subjectivity, and other concerns of European continental philosophy. He challenges ideas of the "narrative view of the self" that equate life-history and personal identity by arguing that there is a "wild region" (borrowing from later Merleau-Ponty) of neglected sense formation in life history. For Tengelyi, experience, operative language, creative expression, and alterity in experience are all domains of this "wild region."
