Arriving in the U.S. in the late 1930s, German artist Herbert Bayer brought his understanding of Bauhaus principles to a variety of projects. Illustrated throughout with artistic reproductions, this volume evaluates his contributions to American art and design. Chanzit (art history, U. of Denver) is curator of the Herbert Bayer Collection and Archive at the Denver Art Museum. This is a reprint of a volume originally published in 1987 by UMI Research Press in Ann Arbor, Michigan under the title Herbert Bayer and Modernist Design in America features the addition of a section of color images.
