Ó Conchubhair (U. of Notre Dame) compiles stories and reports by men and women who participated in Dublin's involvement in the fight for Irish Freedom, from the formation of Fianna Éireann and the Volunteers, through the Great Dublin Strike and Lockout in 1913 and the 1916 Rising, to Bloody Sunday in 1920 and the last major event of the War of Independence, the burning of the Custom House in 1921. Stories were originally published in The Kerryman newspaper before World War II and later in books. This edition contains a new introduction by Diarmaid Ferriter (Boston College).
