Advanced mathematics, probability, and statistics for engineers are usually taught with three different textbooks, in three different courses, in three successive semesters, which Haghighi, Jin-o Lian, and Dimitar P. Mishev (all mathematics, Prairie View A&M U., Texas) find to be a lot of time that could be devoted to useful engineering courses instead. That arrangement also misses the opportunity to demonstrate some important connections between mathematical areas. So they wrap everything up in a single textbook for a single course. Students are assumed to have completed two semesters of calculus and a semester of ordinary differential equations. They cover Fourier and wavelet analysis, the Laplace transform, probability, statistics, difference and differential-difference equations, and stochastic processes.
