Lambrianides and Spencer with several colleagues have prepared the first volume of the results of geo/eco/archeological work done in the Madra River Delta in eastern Turkey. Influenced by the Annales school of historical research, they begin with the history of the land, itself: the formation of the delta, composition of the soil and climate over more than a thousand years before they consider the signs of human habitation from the bronze age through the end of the Ottoman Empire. The articles are technical, with graphs and charts, but largely understanable for the non-professional. There are several fold-out charts and color plats of both the site and the artifacts.
