In collaboration, a group of academic learning disability psychiatrists, the Penrose Society (UK learning disabilities doctors' research group), and the Royal College of Psychiatrists have produced a handbook that reflects a consensus of current practice and opinion among UK and Irish learning disabilities psychiatrists. DC-LD, which came out in April 2001, can be used in conjunction with the ICD-10 and DSM-IV manuals in a complementary way when working with adults with mild learning disabilities. It does not address etiology, nor is it designed as an interviewing instrument. Topics range from autism, to eating and hyperkinetic disorders. A perhaps-controversial inclusion in this manual is DC-LD categories for personality disorders and problem behaviors. The book is distributed in the US by Balogh International. Annotation c.
