The second edition of this book/CD-ROM resource for medical staff services departments is revised to reflect changes in hospital accreditation standards and practices, and contains updated information on healthcare technology and legal issues. The handbook offers practical advice on managing the hospital and managed care credentialing and privileging processes, and hospital functions such as the institutional review board, cancer programs, and continuing medical education programs. Chapter topics include medical staff bylaws, physician executives, and supporting corrective action. The book contains about 35 pages of multiple-choice quizzes for students preparing for the National Association Medical Staff Services exam, and the companion CD-ROM contains sample forms and policies. The book will be used by students in medical staff service academic programs and in other allied health programs, as well as professionals in medical staffing and credentialing, physician leaders, and those working in hospital quality and risk management departments.
