Kuhlthau (communication, information, and library studies, Rutgers U.) examines library and information services for intellectual access to information and ideas, and the process of seeking meaning. She proposes an "Information Search Process" developed through a series of studies of library users. The new edition updates Kuhlthau's thinking on her original work as a result of advances in IT and related research in library and information science over the past ten years, and includes a full description of the Information Search Process and the studies which led to the model.
