Koza (curriculum and instruction, U. of Wisconsin at Madison) presents four studies that explore relationships between the past decade of formal schooling in the United States and the wider culture. Among the topics are the race, gender, and class politics of: education/business partnerships in the promotion of Disney's Mr Holland's Opus , representations of rap music in the major media, the musical Once on this Island and the novel on which it is based, and the discourses surrounding female body hair and its removal.
