Drawing on data from both high- and low-income countries, this report offers a review of the relationship between women's mental and reproductive health. The framework for analysis employed in the report is informed by concepts of gender and human rights, especially reproductive rights. After an overview of key issues, there is material on the pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum periods, psychosocial aspects of fertility regulation, and spontaneous pregnancy loss, as well as women's mental health in the context of HIV/AIDS, infertility and assisted reproduction, and female genital mutilation.
