Canadian publisher Douglas & McIntyre (distribution in the US is by Publishers Group West) is re-issuing a book which was first published in 1979, and subsequently appeared in paperback in 1987. Known for her many years of curatorial work at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Shadbolt conveys her intimate involvement with the works of Canadian painter Emily Carr (1871-1945). She interweaves interpretive and biographical narrative with reproductions of some 200 paintings, charcoals, and drawings, as well as excerpts from Carr's own writings.
