Ciolacu (Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Romania) and Popa (Technical U. of Iasi, Romania) synthesize current knowledge in the research and application in the field of allomorphs of cellulose. They systematize the elucidated elements in classical representations and also consider current hypotheses of the supramolecular organization of cellulose. Furthermore, they give particular attention to the current understanding of the hydrogen bonding system of various structural organizations of cellulose allomorphs.
