Volume 2 of Records of the Moravians among the Cherokees carries the story of the Moravians' mission work to 1805. Having opened their Nation to a first mission settlement, the Cherokees now expect a proper school to educate their children. But the Moravians expect only to bring the Gospel. Can a compromise be reached? Meanwhile, the missionaries themselves fail to fit in. Can the right couple be found to make it all work?<BR><BR>Records of the Moravians among the Cherokees uses original diaries, minutes, reports, and correspondence in the Moravian Archives in North Carolina to provide a first-hand account of daily life among the Cherokees throughout the nineteenth century. Though written by missionaries from their perspective, these records give much insight into Cherokee culture, society, customs, and personalities.<BR><BR>Volume 3 will take the account to 1810 and will introduce Anna Rosina Gambold and her husband John---the perfect missionary couple. Future volumes will deal with the Removal, the Civil War, and to the close of the nineteenth century.
